Cal and Mary met at York Academy of Arts, fell in love, married and have been creating art together ever since.
After working many years in the commercial printing industry “Team Bausman” decided to leave the security of an 8 to 5 job and open their own studio, Owl Mountain Graphics. Specializing in illustration and graphic design they sucessfully developed products and promotions for schools, libraries, and religious organizations.
Cal and Mary also self-published several books, all while working and enjoying a small horse farm with their two sons,
Joe and James.
Owl Mountain Graphics is now retired, however Mary continues to enjoy illustrating, children’s books, and creating art as requested by clients.
Cal is now using his amazing design, and color talents to create beautiful stained glass. He was introduced to the art of stained glass by his son James (a very accomplished Hot Glass Artisan). James came into his Dad’s studio one day with a couple of large boxes containing tools and glass, ”Here’s something for you to play around with Dad”, and that was the begining of a new love.
Cal prides himself on creating unique, one-of-a-kind, hand crafted leaded glass with attention to quality and detail for clients.
Cal’s talents don’t stop with stained glass. He likes nothing better then roaming through the woods of the farm collecting knots, burls, and sticks to be carved into scuptures, wood spirits, and walking sticks. Cal has even planted his own grove of maples, and twisted willow trees, and watches Mother Nature as she provides new wood for his creations. The natural shape and charector of the stock direct Cal’s vision of his new projects.
He enjoys customizing his walking sticks for friends and clients with their names and inspirational sayings. The sticks not only love to hike, give support to the unsteady, but also are great conversation starters, and often hung as wall decor for all to enjoy.
These treasured walking sticks and forest spirits are sure to become family heirlooms, to be passed down through generations. Each piece is signed with Cal’s personal icon.
